2nd Draft: Decisions and Revisions

In this blog post, I will discuss my second draft for my magazine cover, table of contents, and double-page spread. After receiving my classmate's critique, I realized that many things could be done to fix up my magazine. After I received my critique, I went straight into fixing up my magazine.

Magazine Cover:

After receiving my classmates' critique I:

  • Matched the two greens in the masthead and coverlines so it flowed better and worked with the other colors better. They still look slightly different but I think it's because the masthead has an effect on it. I think they still look great and work well together.

  • Added the golf ball in the masthead as the "O", I think it was a very creative idea.

  • I changed the barcode to a barcode I generated.

Table of Contents:

  • I didn't get any constructive criticism on my table of contents from my classmates, but I did get positive feedback.

  • I decided to add photos in the corners

Double-Page Spread:

After receiving my classmates' critique I:

  • Changed the color of the polaroid frame that was around my coach to a whiter white instead of that off-white grey color.

  • Changed the color of the background to a more blue color.

  • Changed the effect on the quote to a darker pink and thinner outline.

  • Placed my coach's name under the quote to show that he said those words.

  • Made the text bigger so it's easier to read and catches the reader's attention.

In conclusion, I have made several changes and I am very grateful for the critique that I received. I know that I wouldn't be as happy as I am right now with this magazine if it wasn't for my classmates' critique. I love how everything turned out and I think I am at perfection. I am very pleased with the current result and I don’t think I will change anything for the final magazine.
