SECTIONS:

None of the magazines I chose have sections.

PHOTOGRAPHY:

The average photo count for the sports genre is just one image.

The type of photos shown in the Table of Contents pages are celebration photos and images of the crowds either celebrating in a big crowd or standing in the stands.

The Steph Curry magazine image is a mid shot, while the Serena Williams magazine image is an extreme long shot showing the section of Serena's fans in the stands.

Since the usual amount of images on the TOC page in a magazine is one, it is usually a big image split across two pages.

FONTS:

  • In all three magazines, the article titles are written in bold.

  • In the two magazines that have a description (Steph Curry and Michael Jordan), the font is normal.

  • The Serena Williams magazine and Steph curry magazine both have the page number in bold

  • The article title for all three magazines are in san serif font.

  • The description for the Steph Curry and Michael Jorrdan magazines are in a serif font, but the Serena Williams magazine doesn't have a description.

  • The page number for the article is in the normal text but in a different color to stand out.

  • All of the article titles are different sizes. Steph Curry is the smallest, Serena Williams is in the middle, and Michael Jordan has the largest text size of the article names

  • The image description in the Serena Williams magazine is in bold, while the image description in the Steph Curry magazine is normal except for "Make it Reign" which is in bold above the description.

SERENA WILLIAMS vs JORDAN vs STEPH CURRY

Similarities:

  • All three magazines had all the articles' titles in bold text

  • All three magazines have the word "Contents" as the title

  • The Serena Williams magazine and Steph curry magazine both have one image that is split across both pages

  • The Steph Curry magazine and Michael Jordan magazine both have a little description under the article title

  • The Steph Curry Magazine and Serena Williams magazine both have a description on the top right of the right page describing the image split across both pages

  • The Steph Curry and Michael Jordan magazines both have the name of the person being written about on the bottom of the magazine by the page number.

  • The page numbers for the articles are above the article title on the Steph Curry magazine and Michael Jordan.

  • There are more than one column for the article names in the Serena Williams magazine and Steph Curry magazine.

Differences:

  • The Michael Jordan magazine has no image

  • The Serena Williams magazine has no description under the article names

  • The Serena Williams magazine doesn't have her name on the bottom of the magazine page beside the page number

  • The page numbers for the articles are beside the article title in the Serena Williams magazine.

  • Only one column for the articles in the Steph Curry magazine.

The Steph Curry magazine was my favorite because it was a very easy table of contents to understand. It included a simple photo, article names with page numbers easily read, and a good simple description. I will be using this table of contents as an inspiration for mine because I would love mine to be easy to read but very helpful.
