In this post, I will be discussing what I will include in my cover page, my struggles in my sketch, and some ideas I have.
As a class, we started to sketch out what we wanted our cover pages to look like for our magazines. We used colors, images, and fonts that we will use in our cover page to get a clear outline of what we will want our final cover page to look like.
This is mine:
My masthead will be "Consistency Is Key "I think it gives a really good message about golf and it will fit well in the golf genre.
I wanted an image that was appealing but didn't take too much attention off the text. I liked this image because it was very clear that he is playing golf and the colors are vibrant.
I included a headline that is specific to golf which makes people understand the magazine topic right away.
I'm not going to add a puff or skyline because I think the amount of text I have included in my sketch is perfect and anything more would be too much.
In my magazine cover I will include:
A masthead that says "Consistency is Key" gives a main message about golf and sports in general. The font of the masthead will be a strong san-serif font that gets the message across right away.
The main cover line will be something along the lines of "Swing to Success" to let the reader understand that golf is a sport where one has to swing a club and not a sport where you kick a ball or run.
Coverlines that let the reader understand that the magazine will be based around golf and give golf tips.
A main image of someone hitting a golf ball to get it clear that my magazine will be about golf.
A barcode which is located on the bottom left of the cover
The issue number and date which are located on the bottom right along with my wix site.
One thing I struggled with was, writing in a font that looked like the font I will be using on my final magazine cover.
In conclusion, I think my draft sketch is a good outline to what my final magazine cover will look like. My magazine is supposed to be targeted at females so I might end up changing the main image to a female. In this case, some improvements can be made to this draft to make the final magazine cover perfect.
